Tropical House was built on a simple belief: green spaces make people feel better.
From the very beginning, our mission has never been just to install plants. It's been to create environments that positively impact the people who live, work, and gather within them. Every project is thoughtfully designed around the people who will experience it, with careful attention to long-term plant health, intentional design, and expert ongoing care.
We believe every plant is an opportunity to serve others. That's why we approach every project with pride, ownership, and a commitment to building lasting relationships. Whether we're caring for a single statement plant or transforming an entire space, our hope is always the same—to create places people genuinely enjoy being in.
The people behind Tropical House
At Tropical House, we believe great work begins with people who genuinely care. Every member of our team takes ownership of the role they play, approaching each project with intention, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Tropcial House values & standards:
Serve Others
Every plant is an opportunity to serve others. Our work is about more than caring for plants—it's about caring for people. Every project is an opportunity to create spaces that make others feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.
Design with Intention
Creating with how spaces are experienced in mind. Every design decision has a purpose. We thoughtfully consider how people will use, experience, and connect with a space, creating environments that are both beautiful and functional.
Take Ownership
Whether we're designing, installing, or maintaining plants, we treat every project as if it were our own. We take pride in our work, follow through on our commitments, and strive to leave every space better than we found it.
Continue Learning
We don't win or lose—we win or learn. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow. We embrace feedback, remain teachable, and are always looking for ways to improve ourselves, our craft, and our company.
Integrity Always
Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We believe trust is earned through honesty, accountability, and keeping our word. We communicate openly, stand behind our work, and choose integrity in every decision.
The Details Matter
It's the small things that make the difference. Exceptional spaces are created through consistent attention to detail. From thoughtful design to expert plant care, we believe the little things are what set us apart.

Leah’s Journey
Where My Plant Journey Began
After graduating college, my husband, our almost one-year-old, and I moved to Texas just as the world was shutting down in March 2020. As we settled into our first home, I started filling it with houseplants to make it feel warm and welcoming, and before long I was spending hours learning everything I could about caring for them. I eventually started selling plants to fund my growing addiction-I mean hobby.
Back to My Local Roots
We moved back to Reno where I then began going to Thailand directly to buy plants. I was 4 trips in and pregnant with my third baby when a friend from church asked if I could "put some plants in his office and take care of them". I took that opportunity to establish Tropical House as a local plant design business.
Reno Roots and Creative Beginnings
I grew up in Reno before earning my degree in Visual Communications at BYU-idaho and working as a freelance graphic designer. Design taught me to pay attention to the details—how color, texture, and thoughtful planning can completely change the way a design feels.
Importing collector plants from Thailand
I began importing and selling plants from Thailand and shipping them all across the US, creating great relationships with the sellers overseas. Seeing these plants grow in their natural habitat changed the way I thought about plant care and how healthy plants begin with giving them the right environment to thrive.
Tropical House Today
Today, Tropical House partners with businesses and homeowners throughout Northern Nevada to design, install, and maintain interior plantscapes that are built to last. While our projects have grown, our purpose hasn't changed. Every plant is an opportunity to serve others by creating spaces that positively impact the people who experience them every day.
